NEW ORLEANS (September 23, 2009) – Adams State and Grand Valley State remained one-two  in week two of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women’s Cross Country Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, the USTFCCCA announced Wednesday.

Adams State competed in the Colorado State Ram Classic winning the event over Division I in-state foe Colorado State. Adams will next head to No. 4 Western State for the Mountaineer Open on Saturday, September 26th.

Grand Valley State was also in action over the weekend competing in a non-scored event at Michigan State. The Lakers did manage to have six runners place in the top 22 at the meet. GVSU is idle until October 2nd when they travel to Notre Dame for the UND Invitational.

No. 3 Augustana, Western State, and No. 5 Chico State each moved up two spots in the poll this week with all three teams being idle. Augustana will run this weekend in Minnesota at the Roy Griak Invitational, while Western will host the Mountaineer Open. Chico State travels to Palo Alto for the Stanford Invitational.

Entering the top ten this week was Missouri Southern State which moved up three spots to No. 8 in the poll this week.

Adams State Remains Atop Field In D-II Men's Cross Country

NEW ORLEANS (September 23, 2009) – The top three teams in the men’s U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Cross Country Top 25 Coaches’ Poll remained unchanged the USTFCCCA announced Wednesday.

Top-ranked Adams State was the only team of the top three to compete over the weekend. The Grizzlies were in action at the Colorado State Ram Classic, winning the meet with a perfect score (15 points). The Grizzlies remain in Colorado this weekend as they travel to Gunnison for the Western State Mountaineer Open where they will square off with No. 2 Western State. Western was idle over the weekend.

Following Adams and Western at No. 3 is Chico State. The Wildcats were idle this past weekend but return to action on Saturday as Chico travels to Palo Alto for the Stanford Invitational.

Grand Valley State and Abilene Christian flip-flopped spots this week with GVSU moving up to fourth while ACU fell to fifth in the poll this week. GVSU was in action at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational, a non-scoring event. The Lakers did manage to place six runners in the top 19 at the meet. The Lakers will take this weekend off before returning to action on October 2nd in the Notre Dame Invitational.
