No. 2 Haverford places six in top 25

HAVERFORD, Pa. — Led by freshman Jeff Duncan and junior Ethan Haswell, second-ranked Haverford pushed six runners into the top 25 of Friday evening’s non-scoring Haverford Invitational.

The invitational included teams from Villanova, Gwynedd Mercy, The College of New Jersey, Lebanon Valley, Swarthmore and Widener along with runners from Philadelphia University and Valley Forge Christian.

Duncan, who posted a 12th-place time of 20 minutes, 28 seconds for the four-mile Alumni course, edged out Haswell in 13th by one second. Sophomore Avi Bregman was close behind in 16th, completing the course with a time of 20:32.

Freshman Joel Christian was 18th (20:36) with senior teammate Andrew Golato one spot back in a time of 20:49. Junior Michael Riccio (23rd, 20:56) rounded out the Haverford runners finishing within the top 25.

Five Villanova runners, including the individual champion Alex Tully, Gwynedd Mercy’s Brett Kubiak, and three athletes running unattached from any team made up the top-10 finishers.
