EAST LANSING, Mich. — The fifth-ranked Grand Valley State men’s cross country team competed at the Spartan Invitational at Forest Akers East Golf Course on Friday (Sept. 14), placing three student-athletes in the top 20.
Senior Jake Isaacson led the way for the Lakers, placing eighth as the highest Division II finisher in the field with a time of 25:04.
Joining Isaacson in the top 20 were junior Josh Moskalewski in 16th (25:16) and sophomore Alan Peterson in 20th (25:21).
Freshman Spencer Pageau and senior Stephen Fuelling finished in 25th (25:29) and 26th (25:31), respectively, while junior Larry Julson crossed the line in 31st with a time of 25:35.
Also placing in the top 50 for the Lakers were freshman Joe Duff in 37th (25:40), junior Brent Showerman in 38th (25:41), freshman Chad Cini in 43rd (25:47) and freshman Casey Routledge in 50th (25:55).
“This was a great start with our full squad competing. We have a lot of work…to do but we have the tools to get it done.” Laker head coach Jerry Baltes said. “We simply need to focus on getting better every step of the way as we progress through the season.”
