LINWOOD, Mich. – Seventh-ranked Grand Valley State won its 11th consecutive GLIAC Conference Championship on Saturday.
The Lakers put together a 29-point performance and outdistanced Malone and Ashland, each with 86 points. Ferris State (112) and Wayne State (175) rounded out the top five.
GVSU placed six of its runners in the top 11, including the top-two spots.
Senior Stephen Fuelling won the event and was named the GLIAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year, finishing in a time of 24:22.0.
Finishing second in a close contest for the runner-up spot was sophomore Alan Peterson in 24:28.2.
Junior Brent Showerman came across in seventh with a time of 24:35.9.
A trio of Lakers finished together starting in ninth, where senior Jake Isaacson came home in 24:40.1. In 10th was redshirt freshman Joe Duff with a time of 24:41.7. Junior Josh Moskalewski was 11th with 24:42.4.
The final GVSU runner, redshirt freshman Spencer Pageau finished 30th in 25:22.2.
