KENOSHA, Wis. -- Grand Valley State's men, ranked sixth in the latest USTFCCCA rankings, claimed their 11th consecutive Midwest Regional Championship on Saturday. The third-ranked Grand Valley State women also continued their regional dominance, as Allyson Winchester won by 14 seconds to help lead the Lakers to their 12th consecutive regional crown.

Four GVSU men's team runners crossed the line together to finish in the eighth through 11th spots in the results.

Junior Brent Showerman was the top finisher for the Lakers, crossing eighth with a time of 31:26 in the 10-kilometer course. Sophomore Alan Peterson was ninth (31:27), redshirt freshman Spencer Pageau was 10th (31:28) and senior Jake Isaacson was 11th (31:29).

The Lakers claimed the team title with 62 points, outpacing No. 19 Ashland (92), No. 24 Ferris State (103), Cedarville (124) and Southern Indiana (124).

Cedarville's Matt Brooker won the event with a time of 30:35.

Winchester was the story of the women's race, as she dominated the field by 14 seconds to win with a time of 20:57 on the 6k course. After being named the GLIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year this season, Winchester now adds the USTFCCCA Midwest Regional Athlete of the Year honor to her awards as well.

Winchester paced a group of six Lakers to finish inside the top 16, with the top five scored Lakers finishing within the top 13.

Sophomore Hannah Osborn finished ninth with a time of 21:40, while junior Courtney Brewis crossed the line in 10th at the same time.

Sophomore Madie Rodts was 12th with a time of 21:44 and crossing the line with her was junior Molly Slavens in 13th with a time of 21:45.

The Lakers easily won the team race with 45 points, outdistancing Saginaw Valley State (110), No. 7 Ferris State (134), No. 18 Southern Indiana (147) and No. 32 Bellarmine (154), who rounded out the top five.

Both GVSU squads advance to the national championship and will compete in Joplin, Mo. on Saturday, Nov. 17th.
