Hurricane Festival: No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Tulsa

The 2013 cross country season opens Saturday as Tulsa hosts the Hurricane Cross Country Festival.

Teams present at the meet are No. 1 Oklahoma State, No.5 Tulsa, Oklahoma and Louisiana-Monroe.

At the 2012 Hurricane Festival, Oklahoma State swept the duels, going 4-0, and taking the top seven spots in the four-mile race. After winning the 2012 NCAA Championship, OSU’s third title in four years, the Cowboys landed the No.1 preseason ranking in both the Midwest Region and the nation.

The No. 5 national ranking is the highest-ever position for Tulsa in the coaches' poll. Tulsa's previous high position was No. 9 last October.

The race begins at 8 a.m. at Mohawk Park. The men's four-mile race begins at 8 a.m.
