No. 1 North Central (Ill.) at Aurora InvitationalĀ 

AURORA, Ill. -- North Central entered two squads in the Aurora Spartan Invitational on Friday, as the varsity squad placed second and the freshman team placed third in the 15-team field at Oakhurst Forest Preserve.

North Central's varsity totaled 41 points to place second only to the University of Chicago's score of 18. The Cardinals' freshman squad finished with 81 points.

Chicago's Dan Povitzky placed first in the individual competition, touring the 8,000-meter course in 25:3.4. Tim Vazquez led North Central's contingent, placing third in the 193-man field in 25:19.4. The Cardinals' Ryan Thompsen and Ken Hoffman cracked the top 10 as well, finishing seventh (25:46.5) and eighth (25:50.2), respectively, while Juliano Lodi placed 11th (25:56.1) and Luke Nally completed the scoring by placing 12th (25:57.7).

The Cardinals will send squads to the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships, hosted by Olivet Nazarene University, on Sept. 13.
