Place wins fifth consecutive race

The University of Minnesota Duluth women dominated the field on Saturday in Carlton, Minn. as they came away with a team title at the Pine Hill Invitational with a perfect team score of 15. The Bulldogs were once again paced by junior sensation Morgan Place who won her fifth consecutive race this fall and 17 of 20 as a collegian, completing the 6K course in 21:27. The Bulldogs took the top four positions and landed six of their runners in the top ten. Senior Bridget Hines was second with a time of 22:19, senior Michelle SanCartier finished third with a time of 22:33, while senior Whitney Hines came in fourth with a time of 23:09.
The Bulldog men had a successful day also capturing a team title in the 8k race. The team was led by junior Kyle Larson who came in fourth overall with a time of 27:13, and finishing closely behind was junior Matt Venaas with a time of 27:28 who finished sixth overall. The top five finishes for the Bulldogs also include junior Robert Kostick (8th, 27:51), freshman Sam Saccoman (12th, 28:08.3) and freshman Aaron Handorff (13th, 28:08.7).
Next up for the Bulldogs will be the UW-Oshkosh Invitational in Oshkosh, Wisc. on Saturday, October 16. The men will begin at 10:30 A.M. and the women following at 11:15 A.M.
