WUSTL places third in D-I event

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The No. 4 Washington University in St. Louis women’s cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the Southern Illinois University Saluki Invitational on Saturday morning in Carbondale, Ill.
NCAA Division I Southern Illinois won the women’s race. The Washington U. women’s team tallied 75 points in its 5K competition.
Each of the top-five finishes for the Washington University women’s team crossed the finish line in succession as the Bears staked claim to places 13-17 with fewer than 6 seconds separating the team’s first and fifth scorer.
Out front for the Red and Green was junior Catherine Reynolds, who finished in 20:18.9, with freshman Gabby Reuveni (20:19.5) and sophomore Lexy Millett (20:19.9) following close behind.
Freshman Elizabeth Worley came in 16th place with a time of 20:23.4, and a second later freshman Lizzy Handschy claimed 17th in 20:24.4.
