ST. LOUIS — The No. 4 Washington University in St. Louis women’s cross country team submitted a first-place finish with a perfect team score of 15 points at the Maryville University Invitational.
WUSTL junior Liz Phillips placed second in the women’s race, finishing in 20:30, just 10 seconds behind an unattached runner from Missouri Baptist, Meghan Hudson, who took first overall on the women’s side.
Placing third overall for the WUSTL women’s team was freshman Sarah Fisher, who finished just a second behind Phillips while senior Jessica Londeree posted a time of 20:43 to take fourth place overall. Running for the first time this season, senior All-American Taryn Surtees came in fifth with a time of 20:46 and junior Erica Jackey completed the Bears’ top five by coming in sixth in 21:25.
