Men's Winner

Davenport, Iowa The UW-La Crosse mens cross country team won the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Saturday afternoon at Credit Island Golf Course in Davenport. With the victory, the Eagles clinch a berth for the NCAA III Championships Saturday, November 18 in West Chester, Ohio.

UW-L finished with 65 team points Saturday while North Central College (Ill.) was second with 107. North Central also earned a bid to the national championships next week. UW-Platteville was third (112 points) followed by UW-Oshkosh (126) and Washington University, Mo. (156). A total of 37 teams participated.

Individually, Kevin Oelstrom was fourth for the Eagles with a time of 24:57.4 on the 8,000-meter course. Cory Hayden placed eighth (25:00.6) for UW-L while Connor Lonning finished 14th (25:14.2) and Paul Zdroik 17th (25:18.6).

Dan Thour finished 22nd (25:26.4) while Paul Moran was 26th (25:32.0) and Ben Herdeman 68th (26:14.7).

The NCAA III Championships are scheduled for Saturday, November 18 at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio at 10 a.m. (Central Time).
