No. 3 Providence wins Bryant Invite
All-American Greany sat out and Friars still won by 60 points
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- No. 3 Providence was victorious at the Bryant Invitational, on the campus of Bryant University.
The Friars earned the top-three places and landed six within the top nine. The trio of sophomore Emily Sisson, classmate Laura Nagel, and senior Hannah Davidson ran together and led the 96-runner field wire to wire. Officially, Sisson was the first to complete the 5-kilometer endeavor, clocking in at 17:09.99, just ahead of Nagel's 17:10.15 and Davidson's 17:10.33.
Friar sophomore Grace Thek (18:16.28) followed shortly in fifth-place, ahead of junior Sam Roecker (18:22.70) in eighth. Freshman Julie Solimine (18:27.41) was ninth.
Despite resting some of their number, including junior All-American Shelby Greany, the Friars registered 19 points, 60 points better than second-place Harvard.
