With 40 points, GVSU outpaced Division I Northwestern who finished second with 56 points and Central Michigan in third with 61 points.
"I feel both squads put together very solid races today," said head coach Jerry Baltes. "The conditions were not good so we knew times were not going to be fast. We knew it would be a bit tactical early on and we had to be ready to move in the second half of the race. We did a great job of racing together and moving up. We feel we are in a good position now and we just need to keep training and making steady progress."
