BOSTON — No. 1 Middlebury and No. 5 Williams took part in the Open New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday. The Panthers finished sixth overall, while the Ephs finished fourth in a 39-squad race. The two were the highest finishing Division III school at the meet.
Williams’ best performer was Alison Smith finished first for the team in 18:26 and Chiara Del Piccolo finished second in 18:29. This placed them 19th and 24th overall. Shayna Barbash finished fourth for the team and 33rd overall. Next came Leslie Blackshear in 42nd place and Olivia Delia in 47th for the last two scoring places. Brianne Mirecki ’14 and Anna Spiers were close behind in 49th and 52nd places respectively.
Middlebury’s best performance came from Margo Crammer who finished 26th with a time of 18:31. She was followed close behind by Adelaide Tousley who finished 31st with a time of 18:38. Other strong Panther performances included Chelsea Ward-Waller (40th, 18:45), Emily Singer (59th, 19:01), Katie Carlson (60th, 19:02) and Katie Romminger (66th, 19:06).
