No. 4 Augustana (S.D.) at Augustana Twilight

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augstana (S.D.) kicked off the cross country season in grand fashion by hosting the third annual Augustana Twilight meet. While putting on a show, the Viking runners still performed to their high standard.  The Vikings took first place in a field of 21 teams as the annual event continues to grow.

Runa Falch appeared in late-season form as she took the women's three-mile race by nearly 20 seconds, clocking a 16:16.77 time. 

The women tallied 34 points, taking down Nebraska by 25 points.  Gabi Swoboda was the next finisher for the Vikings, placing seventh. Three more Augustana women closed out the top five with Kristin Brondbo, Megan Brown, and Meritxell Delgado finishing nine-10-11.

The Vikings return to action on Sept. 28 at the Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota.

No. 3 Western State at CSU Invite

FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Western State Colorado cross country teams were the top placing Division II squads at the CSU Open in Fort Collins, Colo. on Friday. Both the men's and women's programs finished third.

The Western women finished ahead of Colorado Mines and Metro State. The Mountaineer women finished ahead of Division I opponents Wyoming and Northern Colorado but were unable to get in front of Colorado State and Air Force.

Tara Richardson (Sr., Wiggins, Colo.) set the pace for the women's side, finishing the 5k in sixth place with a time of 18:25.30.
