No. 1 Johns Hopkins at Spiked Shoe Invitational
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- John Hopkins finished second at the 2013 Spiked Shoe Invitational Friday evening. The Blue Jays had four runners finish under 22 minutes in the race, with sophomore Hannah Oneda finishing sixth overall (21:47) to lead the team.
The women ran first in the 6k race, alongside perennial DI contender Penn State and No. 29 West Virginia. Oneda took sixth (21:47), while juniors Francis Loeb and Ashley Murphy rounded out the top ten finishing ninth (21:51) and tenth (21:53) respectively.
Senior Holly Clarke took 11th (21:53) and Annie Monagle finished 13th (22:00) to help Hopkins finish second with 49 points. Tess Meehan was the top freshman performer for the Blue Jays, finishing 23rd overall with a time of 22:14.
Penn State captured the women’s title with 15 points and the top five finishers in the 6K race. The women’s individual title went to senior Emily Giannotti (21:17) from Penn State, while Penn State sophomore Robby Creese (25:50) captured the men’s individual title.
