WORCESTER, Mass. -- Junior All-America Mary Rogers (Watertown/Watertown HS) erupted for a career-best five goals, doubling her season total, to power the Bentley Falcons to a 6-2 win over Assumption College in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey on Sept. 16 at Assumption's new Multi-Sports Stadium.

The offensive explosion helped the Falcons, ranked third nationally in Division II, improve to 5-1, both overall and in the Northeast-10. Assumption, which managed only four shots in the game, fell to .500 (3-3), both overall and conference.

Rogers, third on Bentley's all-time scoring list with 55 goals and 130 points, tallied the Falcons' first five goals after the Greyhounds became the fourth straight Bentley opponent to score first. Rogers evened the game at 1-1 at 11:31 of the first half, with sophomore Cristina Sergi (Weston/Weston HS) recording the first of her two assists.

Rogers put the Falcons on top less than two minutes later, and made it a 3-1 game with eight minutes left in the first half. It was more of the same after intermission with Rogers scoring her fourth with 25:23 left and her fifth with 15:59 to play.

Lindsey Harrington (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane Reg. HS), also a junior All-America, completed the Bentley scoring with 14:45 remaining, tallying her fifth of the season.

In addition to Sergi, junior Kristen Allen (Portland, Maine/Deering HS) and sophomore Heather Buda (East Kingston, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) had assists for Bentley, which is 27-4 since the start of last season.

Junior Laura DuBois (Sudbury) scored both goals for Assumption, at 1:39 of the first and with 8:38 remaining.

Senior Kristin Johnson (Reading/Reading HS) and sophomore Meaghan Johnson (Easton/Oliver Ames HS) split the goalie duties for Bentley, each playing a half with Meaghan making the only two saves. Kaitlin Burke (Falmouth) had 10 saves for the Hounds.

Bentley will be back at home to host American International on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.
