Huskies score three unanswered goals late to beat Adelphi
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. -- Bloomsburg won its season opener, defeating Adelphi 3-1 on Thursday afternoon.
In a scoreless first half, the Huskies outshot Adelphi 14-2.
The Panthers opened up the second half at the 38:01 mark with Jeanette Heimerle scoring off an assist, putting Adelphi up 1-0. A little more than 10 minutes of play later, Bloomsburg tied the game at one when senior Amanda Riley found the back of the cage off an assist from Jaclyn Beasley.
Sophomore Brittany Mathews scored her first goal of the season at the 64:21 mark after scoring off a pass from Riley, putting the Huskies at 2-1.
The final goal for the Huskies sealed the victory for Bloomsburg, when Beasley scored after taking a pass from senior Lindsay Danz.
Bloomsburg held a 31-3 shots advantage and a 20-1 penalty corner advantage on Adelphi.
Meghan Hollenbach registered one save for the Huskies, while her counterpart Lucia Vigliotti stopped 14 Bloomsburg shots.
