UConn slips past Princeton
Jeute scores two goals to lead Huskies to first round victory
Connecticut keeper Sarah Mansfield tallied one save and two allowed goals in the Husky win, while Princeton goalie Christina Maida finished with five saves and three allowed goals.
The Huskies played shutdown defense allowing the Tigers only three shots in the game as UConn concluded the afternoon with 16 shots and eight on goal. It was the second time this season UConn defeated Princeton.
Freshman forward Chloe Hunnable put the Huskies on the scoreboard first with a 7:36 goal off of a penalty corner with junior midfielder Alicia Angelini and junior back Allison Angulo being credited with the assist.
Holding a 1-0 advantage entering the second half, Jeute capitalized twice to advance the Huskies to Sunday's game. Jeute's first goal came at the 37:30 mark on an unassisted score before finding the back of the net for her first game-winner of the season at 48:47.
The Tigers would move the score to 2-1 with a 38:40 goal by Allison Evans. Trailing 3-1, Princeton added its final goal as the clock hit zero on a score by Kelsey Byrne.
