WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Brooke Simonovich scored with 15 seconds left in the first overtime to lift fifth-ranked Bloomsburg to a 3-2 win against No. 1 West Chester in a conference matchup on Saturday.
West Chester got on the board first, scoring 9:07 into the contest when Kelsi Lykens recorded a goal of an assist from Stef Pirria.
Bloomsburg answered back just over three minutes later when Amber Aulenbach scored off of a penalty corner with Cassie DiSabatino getting the assist.
The game stayed at one through the rest of the first half before West Chester scored two minutes into the second half. Michele Schrift scored off a Nancy Stehman assist.
The game-tying score came with the help of West Chester. Samantha Facciolla attempted a shot outside the circle, which got deflected off a Golden Ram defender into the far side of the goal for the score.
West Chester had four penalty corners in the final 18 minutes, but could not convert. Bloomsburg had one final chance in the closing seconds on a penalty corner, but also came up empty forcing the extra session.
As the first overtime session came to a close, Simonovich scored the game winner on a 2-1 breakaway off an assist from Alexis Weber.
