GOODWELL, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma Panhandle State spokesman says football head coach Mike Wyatt has died of an apparent heart attack.

Spokesman Scott Puryear says Wyatt died Sunday morning at age 55. A memorial service is set to be held at Panhandle State’s Carl Wooten Field on Wednesday.

Wyatt was a Panhandle State graduate and had coached at the NCAA Division II school since 2007. The Aggies went 6-5 this season, posting their first winning record since 2004. He had a 14-28 record during his four seasons with the Aggies.

Puryear says that before Wyatt returned to Panhandle State, he had coached in high schools in Oklahoma, in arena football and in a professional league in Europe.
