Hill out as coach at Fresno State
Coach built program but was 40-41 in recent years
FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno State has let go coach Pat Hill after 15 seasons at the school.
Athletic Director Thomas Boeh made the decision Sunday, a day after the Bulldogs finished a 4-9 season with a 35-28 loss at San Diego State.
Hill built Fresno State into one of the top programs outside the major conferences early in his career with the mantra of playing anybody, anywhere, anytime. But he struggled to maintain that level of success in recent years. He had a 40-41 record during his last 81 games, beginning with a 50-42 loss to then-No. 1 Southern California in 2005.
Hill finished his tenure with a 112-80 record and went to 11 bowl games.
