NO.   FACTOID
1

Third-down conversions for Southern California on 13 attempts as the Trojans fell on the road against Stanford, giving the Cardinal their fourth consecutive win in the series. That explains a lot.

1.91

Total number of yards per play that Florida State is allowing through three games this season. The Seminoles dominating D has allowed only 310 total yards on 162 plays and has not yielded a touchdown. Maybe this week vs. Clemson? Maybe?

3

Number of times Utah fans rushed the field before being able to fully celebrate after beating No. 25 BYU. Utes’ fans came on the field after a long play was incomplete – but a review found 1 second on the clock (Nebraska fans can relate). Then DT Star Lotulelei blocked a 51-yard FG attempt, but the fans rushed the field again, getting a penalty accessed. Finally, a 36-yarder hit the upright and ended the night … and finally started the celebration.

4

Duke Johnson finished with 246 all-purpose yards and became the first Miami (Fla.) player with a four-touchdown game since Willis McGahee scored six against Virginia Tech in 2002. Johnson now has six touchdowns in his first three college games, four of them going for more than 50 yards. We think he might be pretty good.

5

Number of quarterbacks ranked in the top 10 nationally for passing efficiency who have yet to throw an interception this season. Five of the top six rated passers are from the Big 12 Conference

8

Baylor’s current win streak, which ranks second nationally behind league foe TCU (10). The Bears put the streak on the line in a road contest Friday night against upstart Louisiana-Monroe -- which is 1-1 with two overtime games on the road against SEC schools.

9

Number of incompletions and touchdowns thrown by West Virginia QB Geno Smith. Through two games, he has 734 passing yards and nine TDs while completing 66 of 75 pass attempts. Can you say New York in December, anyone?

15

Number of freshmen that TCU has played this season, the highest total in the country according to research by the Colorado Sports Information Department. LSU also has played the same total.

40

Consecutive number of regular-season non-conference wins by LSU, the longest streak in FBS history. The Tigers reached the mark with a 63-14 pasting of Idaho last weekend.

43

Trailing 17-0 after the first quarter and 23-14 at halftime, Saint Francis (Pa.) outscored Morehead State 43-0 in the second half en route to a 57-23 victory. We would have loved to hear that halftime speech.

46

The final tally for consecutive wins by Wisconsin-Whitewater, which saw its string finally snapped against Buffalo State. The Warhawks were held without a touchdown and missed two field goals while losing 7-6 as the Bengals got into the end zone in the final minute.

81

Merrimack senior QB Joe Clancy rewrote the Northeast-10 Conference record books on Saturday afternoon as he set records for yards, completions and attempts in a game. Clancy finished his career day going 50-for-81 with 536 yards and four scores.

81

We’re not big on doing repeats, but this one needs some attention too: Brendan Bigelow scored on an 81-yard run in the first quarter for California, marking the longest run by an opponent in the 90-year history of Ohio Stadium. Ohio State rallied for a 35-28 win in the contest but Bigelow finished with a guady 160 yards on four carries.

83

Number of non-offensive touchdowns Kansas State has since 1990, tied for the most in the country with Virginia Tech during that stretch. The Wildcats’ most recent came last weekend, when Tyler Lockett returned a kickoff for a touchdown against North Texas.

96

Total number of plays Oklahoma State ran against Louisiana-Lafayette while piling up a school-record 742 yards of total offense ... with a backup QB. Freshman Wes Lunt was injured and J.W. Walsh led the charge, giving coach Mike Gundy (who is two wins away from the school record) a solid 1-2 punch.

197

Total rushing yards Saturday for Florida State’s Chris Thompson on nine carries, including scoring jaunts of 80 and 74 yards. It was the highest rushing mark by a Seminoles’ running back since 1988. He helped FSU to a 52-0 win against Wake Forest, the same team that he suffered a broken back against last year. Nice comeback.

200

Number of career wins by South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier after the Gamecocks beat UAB. Spurrier joined Texas' Mack Brown, Virginia Tech's Frank Beamer and Nevada's Chris Ault among active Division I coaches getting to the milestone. We tip our visor to you, Coach.

400

The win marked the 400th consecutive game that Dayton had not been shut out, the longest current stretch in the NCAA. The team's last shutout was a 9-0 loss to Marshall on Oct. 16, 1976.

3,519

Career rushing yardage for Robbie Rouse, who set the Fresno State all-time mark on a 94-yard run in a 69-14 win against Colorado. Rouse now has 46 more yards than former record holder Ron Rivers.

14,286

Number of fans on hand for the Division III matchup between No. 6 St. Thomas (Minn.) and Saint John’s (Minn.), a 43-21 come-from-behind win by the Tommies. The crowd was the second-largest in school history, trailing the 16,421 fans at the annual matchup in 2010. The game also was Saint John’s coach John Gagliardi’s 600th career game leading the Johnnies.
