Taylor Heinicke threw for a school record 492 yards and tossed four touchdowns to lead the Monarchs to a 57-23 victory against Duquesne, including a 47-point outburst in the second half. Heinicke's 492 yards passed the previous high of 407 yards by Thomas DeMarco at Monmouth on Sept. 25, 2010. Henicke also set school records for completions (41) and passing attempts (63).

Senior linebacker Jamal Giddens was the catalyst in Norfolk State's first shutout since 2001. Giddens tallied seven tackles, 4.5 for loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles despite missing much of the second half due to cramps. Giddens helped create the Spartans’ first touchdown as he sacked Virginia State quarterback Jarred Battle deep in his own territory and knocked the ball loose.

TENNESSEE-MARTIN 20, MEMPHIS 17 BOX SCORE
Cody Sandlin had missed kicks of 19 and 28 yards before connecting on two field goals in the fourth quarter. The last one, a 43-yarder, came with just four seconds left on the clock to give Tennessee-Martin its first victory against an FBS team. “I knew it had the distance, and when I saw it go through the uprights I just took off running,” Sandlin said. Sandlin made 14 of 17 field goals and 45 of 48 extra points in 2011.
