Buffalo State Athletics
BUFFALO STATE 7, NO. 1 WISCONSIN-WHITEWATER 6 BOXSCORE
Despite a 1-1 record, going on the road to face the No. 1 team in the country -- which also owned a 46-game winning streak with three consecutive national titles -- didn't seem to phase Buffalo State. The Bengals shut down the high-powered Wisconsin-Whitewater offense, holding it without a touchdown as BSU earned a 7-6 upset behind the defensive effort of LB Pasquale Vacchio. On the day, he recorded 19 total tackles including one tackle for loss as the Bengals held the Warhawks to 311 total yards and their fewest points in a game since falling 7-6 against UW-Platteville on Oct. 2, 2004.

Linfield Athletics
NO. 5 LINFIELD 33, NO. 10 CAL LUTHERAN 30 BOXSCORE
Whatever the reason the kicking game wasn't rolling in the first two games, Josh Kay worked it out by Week 3. The place-kicker for No. 5 Linfield lifted the Wildcats to a 33-30 victory against No. 10 Cal Lutheran as he booted four field goals, including the game-winner from 39 yards out with five seconds remaining. It was his final swing of the day after earlier knocking home field goals 45, 35 and 41 yards. His last three field goals came in the fourth quarter, and his hot streak came after going 0 for 3 (with one blocked) in the first two games this season.
