Junior Tyler Denson led Colorado Mines with a career-high 19 tackles, including a sack, a forced fumble, and 1.5 tackle for loss against the No. 2 team in the country. His 19 tackles fell two short of tying the school record and stands as the most by an Oredigger since Jared Heath set the school mark against South Dakota in 2005.

Minnesota State-Mankato kicker Sam Brockhsus booted a 20-yard field goal in the second overtime to propel the 10th-ranked Mavericks to a 34-31 double-overtime victory against Southwest Minnesota State. The game marked the first overtime contest for Minnesota State since it fell to Hillsdale 27-24 in the DII playoffs on Nov. 14, 2009. Trailing 24-10 with 7:36 left in the game, Minnesota State junior quarterback Jon Wolf engineered two scoring drives to push the Mavericks to overtime.
