KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Washburn Ichabods golf team rolled to a 20-shot win in the MIAA Tournament Championship at Shoal Creek Golf Course. The Ichabods won its third straight MIAA Postseason Tournament and the fifth under head coach Doug Hamilton. The Ichabods will now wait until Friday to discover its seed for the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Ichabods were the No. 2 ranked team in the South Central Region entering the conference tournament. The regional will be played in Allendale, Mich., at the Meadows Golf Course.

The Ichabods were led by Matt Ewald who record a trio of 72's en route to a 3-over 216 and a second place finish. His finish helped him earn all-MIAA honors for the fourth time in his Washburn career. Matt Salome finished in third place with a 6-over 219 (75-65-79). Salome earned all-MIAA honors for the second time in as many seasons at Washburn. Matt Lazzo finished sixth place with a 10-over 223 (75-73-75). He earned honorable mention all-MIAA honors. Sam Wempe recorded a 10th place finish with a 14-over 227 (76-77-74). Wempe also earned all-MIAA honors.

Playing as individuals, Riley Piles and Nate Sargent each recorded scores of 21-over. Piles recorded scores of 81-78-75 and Sargent turned in a card of 77-78-79.

Central Missouri, who had been the top-finishing team in the three previous MIAA-sanctioned events, carded a four-man, 54-hole total of 899, 20 shots behind Washburn. UCM had a final-round total of 297, and finished with 38 points in the MIAA standings.
