No. 23 Tigers get off to quick start

KERRVILLE, Texas — No. 23 Trinity (Texas) overcame rainy conditions to take the lead after the first day of action at the Schreiner Spring Shootout on Monday.

All five Tiger scorers shot under 80 despite a steady rain throughout the day. Trinity shot a combined 302 for the day, and is leading by five strokes against third-ranked Texas-Tyler.

Concordia, Texas Lutheran, and LeTourneau round out the top five teams after Monday’s round.

The Tigers placed three individuals in the top eight as Trinity was the only school to have five sub-80 rounds on the day.

Erik Long-Goheen led the Tigers with a solid round of 74. Long-Goheen shot a 35 on the front, and is currently tied for fifth individually.

Warren Taylor’s 75 puts him in seventh place, while Kalen Vos shot 76 to tie for eighth place. Geoffrey Setiawan had a 77 for a 12th-place tie, while Tyler Lehmann shot a 79 to tie for 20th individually.
