North Ala. wins Mardi Gras Invite

Lions’ Chandler finishes fifth shooting 219, 75 final day

NEW ORLEANS – With three North Alabama golfers finishing in the top eight individually, No. 11 UNA shot a final round 293 to top the field of 15 at the Mardi Gras Invitational.

UNA’s three round 880 total left the Lions 16-over-par for the tournament and four strokes ahead of No. 8 West Florida.

No. 1 Lynn was third, followed by Indianapolis, Nova Southeastern, Abilene Christian, Florida Southern, Georgia Southwestern, Delta State, Missouri-St. Louis, Valdosta State, West Georgia, Montevallo, Centenary and New Orleans.

UNA senior Ty Chandler finished fifth individually with a 219 total. He turned in rounds of 72, 72 and 75. The Lions Jake Greer was tied for sixth at 220 and Tyler Ekenberg was tied for eighth at 221.

UNA’s Blaise Wilson tied for 13th at 223 and Ricky Stimets tied for 26th at 225.
