RACINE, Wis. – Carthage is in second place at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship after the third of four rounds was contested on Friday. The first two rounds were played on April 27-28 at the Oakwood Country Club in Coal Valley, Ill. The third round was completed at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, Wis., and will be the site for the fourth and final round on Saturday.
Illinois Wesleyan leads with a team score of 902 (308-292-301) after the third round of the tournament followed closely by the Red Men with a score of 909 (305-300-304). Millikin is next best (306-302-311-919), followed by Wheaton (Ill.) (309-310-304-923), North Park (322-317-311-950), North Central (Ill.) (318-324-326-968), Elmhurst (336-322-328-986) and Augustana (Ill.) (339-316-333).
Millikin’s Wes Hillen leads the individual standings with a three-day score of 209 (69-71-69), followed by Illinois Wesleyan’s Stefen Johnson (77-71-73-221) and Carthage’s Brad Hyland (76-75-72-223). Donnie Langland is in fourth (74-74-77-225) to give the Red Men two of the top performers so far.
Carthage’s Josh Kopka is tied for eighth (80-76-76-239), Ben Schroeder is 12th (79-75-79-233), Riley Bauman is tied for 23rd (80-81-79-240) with teammate Anthony Burdi (76-85-79-240) heading into the final round.
