Wilmington (Del.) wins third CACC championship in a row by 18 strokes
LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. -- Wilmington (Del.) extended its 11-shot first round lead to an 18-stroke margin as the Wildcats claimed their third consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Golf Championship on Thursday. The tournament was hosted by Chestnut Hill at the historic Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.
Wilmington (611) outlasted Concordia (629), Nyack (632), Goldey-Beacom (636) and Post (657) to close out the top-five by claiming three of the top five individual performances.
Senior P.J. Tighe claimed his second CACC Individual Medalist title in a row after carding a 76 on the final day of competition for a two-day score of 150. He started the day only one stroke off the pace, tied with teammate junior Jerry Temple, who finished second in the tournament one stroke behind Tighe.
The leader after day one was Concordia's Eutimio Fernandez Meade, who completed the par-72 course in third place with a total of 152. Rounding out the CACC All-Tournament Team members were Wilmington's Andreas Lunding (153) and Post's Thomas Rees (154).
