BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Jenny Lines fired a 76 in the final round to lead the No. 20 West Florida women’s golf team to the team title at the Ann Rhoads Invitational hosted by Birmingham-Southern on Monday.
The Argonauts carded a 319 in Monday’s final round to surpass first day leader Butler by three strokes.
Lines’ 76 in the second round gave her a fourth-place finish overall (83-76 – 159), one stroke behind teammate Bhavna Shetty. After carding 77 in Sunday’s first round, Shetty (77-81 – 158) shot an 81 in the second, finishing seven strokes behind individual champion Emily Gibson from Montevallo (73-78 – 151).
Freshman Jaime Jordan also broke 80 in the second round, carding 79 to finish tied for ninth place (83-79 – 162). She was followed in the Argonaut lineup by freshman Hillary Miller and sophomore Agustina Cocha. Miller finished tied for 23rd (89-83 – 172) while Cocha was tied for 32nd (86-90 – 176).
The tournament win marks the first for the Argonauts this season and the 20th in school history.
