Appalachian State holds one-shot lead
Six players separated by two strokes after first round on Sunday
HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- Appalachian State holds a one stroke lead at the Low Country Intercollegiate on the Moss Creeks’ South Course, a par-72, 5,853 yard course. The Mountaineers’ Yue Xu and Samford’s Anna Heim are tied at 74 Sunday after round one of the intercollegiate.
Appalachian State sits with 314 strokes after round one, with Gardner-Webb (315) and Samford (316) rounding out the top three.
Xu and Heim hold a two-shot lead over Western Kentucky’s Jo Anna Smith, Gardner-Webb’s Meghan Allum and Lauren Smith, as well as Appalachian State’s Rumbidzai Masamvu, who all fired a 76 in the opening round.
Wofford (321), Richmond (324), Savannah College of Art and Design (325), Presbyterian (325), Western Kentucky (330), USC Upstate (334) and Radford (340) round out the top-10 teams following round one. Winthrop (341), Brown (346), Tennessee Tech (348) and The Citadel (356) complete the field.
