NINETY-SIX, S.C. -- Gardner-Webb's Hannah Hellyer posted the lowest round of the tournament thus far with a 1-over par 73 Tuesday to move from seventh-place into the individual lead, and the Runnin' Bulldogs carded a second round-best 306 team aggregate score to move into second overall in the 2011 Big South Women's Golf Championship at The Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor (par 72, 6,025 yards) in Ninety-Six, S.C. First-round leader Coastal Carolina finished with a 312 on Tuesday, but still holds the top spot with a 36-hole score of 613 (301-312) -- nine shots ahead of Gardner-Webb (622).

Hellyer opened her day with a 1-under 35 on the front nine, which included two birdies. She was 2-under par after 11 holes, but suffered a triple-bogey on No. 12. She pared the remaining six holes and eventually emerged as the 36-hole leader at 5-over par 149. Coastal Carolina's Brittany Henderson, who was the first round leader with a 2-over par 74, also was 1-under after nine holes, but was undone with three bogeys and two double-bogeys on the back nine to fall three shots back of Hellyer. Henderson is tied with teammate Kaitlin Higginbotham for second with an 8-over 152. Coastal Carolina's Jessica Alexander and High Point's Jessica Neese round out the top five scorers, as both are at 6-over par 153.

The teams battled overcast skies and 15-25 mph winds on Tuesday. Joining Hellyer among GWU's four counting scores Tuesday were Lauren Smith (78), Sammy Vass (76) and Meghan Allum (79). Vass, Charleston Southern's Amanda D'Ostroph, High Point's Margaret Suchan and Presbyterian College's Jennifer Paden each had the second-lowest round Tuesday at 76.

High Point jumped up into the top three following its 314 and sits in third-place at 635. Charleston Southern dropped from second to fourth after shooting a team aggregate 328 Tuesday, and is five shots behind the Panthers at 640. Associate women's golf member Bucknell and Radford are tied for fifth at 641, while host Winthrop is seventh at 646. Associate women's golf member Holy Cross is officially eighth at 709. Presbyterian College finished with a 339 in the second round and is at 687 after 36 holes.

The Blue Hose's results do not officially count in the individual or team standings due to its transition to Division I.
