HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Methodist University women's golf team, seeking its 14th consecutive and 24th overall NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, has a four-stroke lead after Tuesday's first round at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort.

The Monarchs shot a 318 after day one, four strokes ahead of second place Gustavus Adolphus. The two teams traded the lead throughout the day before Methodist took the first-round lead. St. Mary's College of Indiana was third with 725.

Paige Caldwell (Methodist), Andrea Daly (Methodist), Rikka Holiday (Gustavus Adolphus) and Becky Miller(Williams) shot a four-over 77 to tie for the individual lead. Katie Klosterman from Illinois Wesleyan is one shot back.
