Methodist grows Championship lead

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – Methodist extended its lead to 18 strokes on second-place Gustavus Adolphus College after the second round of the NCAA Division III women’s golf championship.

The Monarchs shot a 319 on day two and now have a two-day total of 637 (318-319). The Gusties sit in second at 655 (322-333). Methodist lost a stroke in the second day, but was still 12 strokes better than any other team on Wednesday.

Paige Caldwell took sole control of the individual lead firing a 76 despite carding a double-bogey on No. 18 for a two-day total of 153. Becky Miller of Williams College and Catherine Wagner of Wisconsin-Eau Claire are tied for second, five shots back.
