Play suspended at Rucker event
Tournament shortened to 36 holes; Alabama leads
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.- - Alabama's second-ranked women's golf team was only able to finish just over half of its second round on Saturday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the par-71, 6,160-yard Long Cove Club.
The Crimson Tide were 2-under par on their second round when lightening halted play late Saturday morning. Play was not able to resume on Saturday and the event has been shortened to 36 holes that will continue at 10 a.m. ET on Sunday.
Alabama's five-player team had completed between nine and 12 holes before play was suspended. The remaining holes will be finished on Sunday to conclude the tournament.
UA will begin its second round at 2-over par for the tournament, eight strokes clear of second-place North Carolina, who was 2-over par for the round when play was suspended.
The Crimson Tide also held down the top two individual spots on the leaderboard. Stephanie Meadow was 2-under par on her second round when play was halted and stands at 6-under par through 27 holes. Brooke Pancake is in a tie for second place at 1-under for the round and the tournament 12 holes into her second round.
