COLUMBUS, Ohio -- No. 14 Ohio State topped Michigan State, 195.200-192.675, Friday night in St. John Arena.

"This was not our highest score but for me it was our best overall effort," head coach Carey Fagan said. "We had a lot of new people in the lineup and they really stepped up and got some good scores. It's nice to know we have that competition in the lineup spots. I'm really proud of them and overall it was a good meet."

The Buckeyes posted a 48.900 team score to open the meet with an event win on vault. Colleen Dean and Sarah Miller each recorded a 9.800 for Ohio State to tie for first while Casey Williamson and Taylor Jones tied for third with scores of 9.775.

Moving on to bars, the Buckeyes posted a score of 48.500, just topping Michigan State's score of 48.475. Leading the way for the team was Dean who won the event with a 9.800. Right behind her was junior co-captain Nicole Krauter with a career-high 9.775. Rounding out the score for the Scarlet and Gray were Williamson and Alex Deluca, scoring a 9.750 and a 9.575 respectively.

After two events Ohio State held a narrow 97.400-97.200 lead over Michigan State.

Rebecca Best led the Buckeyes with an event-best 9.800 on beam to help Ohio State to a 48.700 team score to top the Spartans' 47.125. Krauter and Miller each tallied scores of 9.750 for Ohio State to tie for second.

Ohio State concluded the meet on floor to sweep all four events after a score of 49.100 to Michigan State's 48.450. The Scarlet and Gray swept the top three places. Dean won the event with a new season-high 9.875. Jones and Shaffer each scored a 9.825 to tie for second. This was Jones' first time competing on floor this season.

Dean took first in the all-around for the Buckeyes with a score of 39.150.
