AMES, Iowa — Iowa State used its season-best score to roll past No. 22 Minnesota 195.975-195.150 on Sunday.
Michelle Browning won the all-around scoring 39.350 and also tied for top honors on floor with a season-best 9.875. Celine Paulus won bars with a career-high 9.900 effort, the Cyclones top score on the event this season. Shea Anderson produced a season-best 9.800 on floor.
Iowa State (5-5 overall, 0-2 Big 12) won four event titles on the evening. In addition to Browning and Paulus’ event wins, Caitlin Brown tied for the meet’s top score on beam with a 9.825. Minnesota (5-8) gymnast Kayla Schleta won the vault title with a score of 9.850.
The Cyclones started the meet off in strong fashion with a near-season-best 48.975 on vault. Browning (9.825), Brown (9.825) and Megan McDonald (9.800) led the way for the Cyclone outfit. McDonald’s score equaled her career high and Shealy also tied her season best on the event with a 9.775.
Iowa State was on bars during the second rotation and tallied a season-high 49.050. McDonald (9.800) and Shealy (9.775) tied their season-high scores. Browning chipped in with another strong score of 9.850.
Beam was Iowa State’s third event, and the Cyclones produced a 48.775 score. Brown tied her career high, while Browning (9.800) and Shealy (9.775) buoyed the Iowa State effort.
Iowa State closed the competition on floor and scored a season-high 49.175, its highest tally on any event this season. In addition to Browning’s 9.875, the Cyclones had season-high scores from Anderson (9.800) and Elizabeth Stranahan (9.850). Michelle Shealy delivered her fourth 9.775 on the evening, while Brown delivered her third strongest effort with 9.825.
Shealy placed second to Browning in the all-around with a score of 39.100, her best of 2012.
