Vermont Passes By Yale, 4-1 In NCAA First Round

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -Four goals from four different players helped lead the third-seeded Vermont Catamounts past the second-seeded Yale Bulldogs in the first round of the NCAA East Regional on Friday night.
Senior assistant captain Corey Carlson scored the fourth and final goal in the third period lifting a wrist shot past Yale goalie Alec Richards.
Hobey Baker finalist Viktor Stålberg scored just 1:50 into the second frame, going five-hole past Richards on a shot from in between the hashmarks of the Bulldog zone for his 24th goal of the season. Junior Brian Roloff and sophomore Kevan Miller assisted. With 58 seconds left, Junior Colin Vock netted the second goal of the period off a feed from sophomore Washsontiio Stacey to put it past Richards from the right faceoff dot for his fifth goal of the season. Sophomore Dan Lawson also assisted.
Junior assistant captain Peter Lenes started the scoring for the Catamounts, tallying the lone goal of the first period at the 15:28 mark on a slap-shot from the left circle for his 15th goal of the season. Sophomore Kyle Medvec recorded his 10th assist of the year on the play. Goaltender Rob Madore had 26 saves.
