No. 4 Michigan tops No. 6 Ferris State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan handed Ferris State its first loss of the season, earning a 5-2 victory on Thursday night at Yost Ice Arena.
Phil Di Giuseppe led the charge for the Wolverines with two goals, including the first goal of the game. Michigan maintained at least a two-goal lead from then on, posting its first conference win of 2011-12. Lindsay Sparks and Chris Brown each dished out two assists, while David Wohlberg registered one goal and one helper.
Goaltender Shawn Hunwick turned away 28-of-30 shots on goal, while Nelson allowed four goals on 27 shots.
The Michigan power play finished the night 2-for-5, while Ferris State converted on 2-of-3 man-advantage opportunities.
Lake Superior State 3, No. 16 Miami (Ohio) 2 (OT)
OXFORD, Ohio -- Lake Superior State defeated Miami for the first time in four years 3-2 in overtime. The Lakers are 6-1-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the CCHA. Miami is now 2-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the CCHA.
The Last time the Lakers defeated Miami in Oxford was during the 2006-07 season for the CCHA Quarterfinals. The Lakers won in two games defeating the RedHawks 2-1 both games.
Miami's netminder Cody Reichard totaled 20 saves for the RedHawks. Sophomore goaltender Kevin Kapalka (6-1-0, 4-1-0) totaled 29 saves for LSSU.
The Lakers were 2-for-6 on the power-play holding Miami 0-for-5.
