With 35 first-place votes, defending national champion Boston College is the top choice in the USCHO.com Division I Preseason Poll.

No. 2 Minnesota (12) and third-ranked Michigan (three) tallied the other first-place votes.

North Dakota and Union round out the top five.

Cornell, Massachusetts-Lowell, Denver, Miami (Ohio) and Western Michigan complete the top 10 teams, in that order.

Last season’s Frozen Four runner-up, Ferris State, is slotted 11th in the poll, followed by Minnesota-Duluth, Boston University, Notre Dame and Maine.

Michigan State starts the year 16th, Harvard sits at No. 17, Wisconsin in the 18th spot, Air Force 19th and Colorado College coming in at No. 20.

The USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll consists of 50 voters, including 28 coaches from the Division I conferences and 22 beat writers and sports professionals from across the country.
