COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Minnesota Duluth retains the No. 1 ranking in this week’s USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women’s College Hockey Poll. The Bulldogs accumulated 188 points and 17-of-19 first-place votes to claim the top spot.
Cornell University remains at No. 2 with 163 points, while Mercyhurst College stays at No. 3 with 160 points and one first-place vote. The University of Minnesota (128) collected one first-place vote and moves up two spots to No. 4 after defeating then-No. 7 Clarkson University twice over the weekend, while the University of Wisconsin (119) holds the No. 5 spot, having earned two victories over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
The University of North Dakota (40) makes its 2010-11 poll debut at No. 8 after splitting a pair of games with No. 6 Boston University, while the University of New Hampshire (38) is ranked No. 9 after topping the University of Connecticut.
Highlighting this weekend’s games is a Top-10 Western Collegiate Hockey Association match-up between No. 1 University of Minnesota and No. 8 University of North Dakota.
NOTES: The WCHA leads all conferences with four ranked teams, while the Hockey East Association has three ranked teams and ECAC Hockey has two. No. 3 Mercyhurst College is the only College Hockey America team ranked … A total of 14 teams received votes.
