St. Scholastica clinches sweep against No. 10 UW-Stevens Point in OT

DULUTH, Minn. — St. Scholastica sealed a series sweep of No. 10 UW-Stevens Point on Saturday with a 3-2 overtime victory at Mars Lakeview Arena.

In the first period the Saints fell behind following a Pointer power-play goal 15 minutes into the game. The Saints were unable to find the net in the first period, but did manage to get eight shots on goal.

A short-handed Pointer goal in the second period put UW-Stevens Point up 2-0, but once again the Saints were able to outshoot the Pointers 11-8 in the period.

The Saints started to come back eight minutes into the final period with a goal from Nina Waidacher off an assist from Alex Blair.  The Saints tied the score with 15 seconds left in regulation on a power-play goal from Blair. Brenna Flatley assisted on the game-tying goal.

In the overtime period, Alana Levido sealed the weekend sweep just 2:17 into the extra session with assists going to Briana Stephens and Kelly Ahlgren. The Saints won 3-2 and completed a series sweep of UW-Stevens Point.

The Pointers (6-4-2, 5-3-2 NCHA) had 25 shots on goal, 1-for-5 on the power-play and were charged with seven penalties for 14 minutes.

The Saints had 34 shots on net, were 1-for-7 on the power-play and were charged with five penalties for 10 minutes.

The Saints outshot the Pointers for the second night in a row and won 44-of-78 faceoffs.
