BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Top-ranked and two-time defending national champion C.W. Post (5-0) defeated American International on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference contest.

The Pioneers exploded for eight first quarter goals and tacked on five more in the second to open a 13-0 lead at the half. 

C.W. Post led 14-0 before senior attack Aaron McNab broke through with a man-up goal 2:55 into the fourth quarter. He scored his second goal of the game with 3:53 left in the game.

Ten different players scored at least one goal for the Pioneers. Junior attack Eddie Plompen led the way with four goals and one assist for five points, while senior attack Nick Coric tallied two goals and two assists for a four-point game. Freshman attack/midfielder Connor Mackay and senior midfielder Mike Messina buried three shots each.

Senior Mike Giordano stopped all three shots on goal in the first half to earn the decision in the cage for C.W. Post, while junior Eric Whettell made nine saves when allowing 13 first half goals in taking the loss in net for AIC. Senior Max Castleman made seven saves while allowing five goals in the second half.

The Yellow Jackets were outshot 46-22 in the game and were 1-for-4 in man-up situations. The Pioneers were 3-for-5 with the man-advantage.
