BALTIMORE - The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) released its Division III men's lacrosse coaches' poll on Monday and Salisbury University remains No. 1 as the Sea Gulls collected 239 points and all 12 first-place votes.
Salisbury (2-0) is followed in the rankings by No. 2 Gettysburg College who tallied 246 points while national runner-up SUNY Cortland is No. 3 with 227 points. No. 4 Middlebury College (218 points) and No. 5 Cabrini College (191 points) round out the top five in the rankings. SU is the only team in the top five and one of four teams in the top 10 that have played a game this season. The maroon and gold are one of two Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) teams to be included in the poll as Stevenson University (1-0) sits at No. 9. Lynchburg College fell to No. 10 after the Hornets lost 18-6 to the Sea Gulls last Saturday.
The USILA poll, which is voted upon by Division III coaches, will be released every Monday.
Salisbury will next begin its conference schedule at home Wednesday, February 25, against Rt. 13 rival Wesley College at 3 p.m.
