Regis tabs Blumenthal head coach
Former Babson assistant to lead Pride men’s lacrosse
WESTON, Mass. -- Regis announced that Josh Blumenthal has been named the head men’s lacrosse coach and intramurals coordinator. Blumenthal will oversee all administrative, coaching, and recruiting duties as head men’s lacrosse coach and will also work with the athletic department to coordinate an intramural program for Regis students.
Blumenthal comes to Regis after a two-year stint with Babson where he served as an assistant lacrosse coach for the men’s and women’s programs as well as an athletic administrator. While at Babson, Blumenthal led the Beavers' men's team to a pair of winning seasons and an appearance in the Pilgrim League Playoffs. On the women’s side, Blumenthal helped coach the women's team to back-to-back NEWMAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances, with the Beavers advancing to the round of 16 in 2010.
"I would like to thank Regis College athletic director Dr. Marybeth Lamb and Regis College for the opportunity to be a head coach at a truly wonderful institution," Blumenthal said. "I am extremely excited to work with the Regis athletics department, and I hope I can build upon the foundation already set and help the lacrosse program get to the next level."
Blumenthal has a diverse coaching background serving as a coach at the NCAA Division II, III and high school levels. Prior to his work at Babson, Blumenthal was an assistant coach at Northeast-10 powerhouse Adelphi University where he worked primarily with the goalies and in operations.
Prior to that, he spent four years as the head lacrosse coach and sports information director at Palmer Trinity School in Miami.
