NEWARK, Del. — Delaware broke out of a recent slump in a big way Saturday afternoon as the Blue Hens stormed back from an early 6-0 deficit and rolled to a 13-9 win against No. 8 Villanova at Delaware Stadium.

The Hens (3-3), who snapped a three-game losing streak, jumped back into the national picture thanks to a torrid comeback that left the previously undefeated Wildcats stunned.
Senior midfielder Andrew Tanneberger posted his first career hat trick with four goals, Grant Kaleikau contributed two goals and two assists, and backup goalkeeper Brett Anton gave the Hens a big lift before leaving the game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.
Villanova (3-1), which lost its first game of the season, got three goals from Nick Doherty while Jack Rice scored twice and Will Castertano scored a goal and dished out three assists.
The Wildcats stormed out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first quarter before the Hens netted the final two scores of the stanza and eventually cut the lead to 7-6 at halftime.
Delaware scored the final three goals of the first half and all five in the third quarter to take an 11-7 lead. Villanova cut the lead to 12-9 with 8:25 left but could never get closer.
