No. 19 Boston College soars in opener

Boston College kicked off the 2011 season with a 14-9 win at Hofstra with five goals from newcomer Moira Barry.
The Eagles begin the season 1-0 while Hofstra falls to 0-1.
BC opened scoring as Brittany Wilton netted the Eagles' first tally at 4:03. Hofstra responded with two scores of its own but the Eagles were quick to take the lead again, with two goals from freshman Barry and another from Wilton for a 4-2 lead.
The Pride tallied two in the 26th and 27th minutes to tie the score but Wilton tallied her third goal of the game to give the Eagles a 5-4 lead heading into halftime.
Sam Taylor and Barry netted back-to-back goals in the first 2 minutes of the second half to take a 7-4 lead. Kristin Igoe recorded three goals of her own in the second half, while Barry notched two more.
Captain Jill Amo scored in the 18th minute and Wilton closed out scoring with BC's final goal at 28:20 to end the game 14-9.
Freshman Barry led the team in scoring with five goals, followed by Wilton with four. Barry and Igoe registered two assists apiece.
Senior goalie Sheila Serafino recorded three saves as BC outshot Hofstra 39-15.
