No. 9 JMU beats George Washington
Dukes scored six of the game's first seven goals
HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Ninth-ranked James Madison scored six of the game's first seven goals and went on to beat George Washington 12-5 Saturday afternoon at the JMU Lacrosse Complex.
It was the season-opening game for the Dukes, now 1-0, while GW dropped to 1-3 with its third consecutive loss.
The Dukes got two goals each from redshirt sophomore Casey Ancarrow, junior Caitlin McHugh and junior Monica Zabel. Zabel also contributed a game-high four assists.
GW got two goals each from redshirt senior Mia Breheny and sophomore Nicole Lacey.
The Dukes out-shot GW 47-13. JMU goalkeeper redshirt junior goalkeeper Alex Menghetti finished with three saves, while GW senior goalkeeper Liz Hoffman made 18 stops.
